I am open for business and continue to practice for the safety of my clients and myself. I use a version of UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS that I learned when I worked in hospitals. Universal Precautions means that we treat everyone as if they are infectious (of anything, not just Covid-19). It does not matter if one has been vaccinated or not, we all have nostrils and are breathing in microorganisms, as well as, exhaling them. That is the primary method of transmission for various microorganisms. And masks DO work! Microorganisms to not exit our nostrils singularly. They come out of our nostrils in groups surrounded by mucus. Therefore, most masks can reduce our risk of exposure.
I have devised a barrier around the face cradle so that clients may remove their mask (if they are wearing one) while face down in the face cradle. It also helps to reduce the number of microorganisms that are released into the studio's air. When a client is face up, I appreciate when a client wears a mask, but if they are not, I am!. I am working right over their faces when I am working on neck and shoulders.
Last year, a report was made public that included the findings of 239 researchers from 34 countries: the virus can stay airborne for up to 3 hours in poorly ventilated rooms/spaces. I have an air filtration system that removes particles smaller than a coronavirus! I have it running continuously.
If clients are experiencing these symptoms prior to their sessions, we would need to reschedule: Cough, Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing, Fever, Chills, Muscle Pain, Sore Throat, New loss of Taste or Smell, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea. If a client is experiencing any symptoms within 24 hours of their appointment and has to cancel/reschedule, I will not enforce any kind of payment for less than 24 hour notice.
As I have a background in Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology, I have a different understanding than most about the Covid issue. I also have been studying and researching vaccines since the 80's. I use what I know to keep myself, my family, and my clients safe and well.
